Origin
It was in the year 1971 that Padmashri Dr SM Hardikar started his own practice as an orthopaedic surgeon in the city of Pune and with a small nursing home of 10 minutes. Just within two years and expansion of his activities was needed owing to his excellent clinical skill and a healthy doctor-patient relationship as a result of which a Public charitable trust was established in the year 1974 under the name of Sushrut Medical Care and Research Society. Soon this hospital became synonymous with the name ‘leading accident treatment hospital’ and an excellent care centre for all types of trauma and orthopaedic cases in entire western Maharashtra and even beyond.
The Deccan Hospital is spearheaded by Dr Trimbak Dapkekar who is the well renowned orthopaedic surgeon and has been practising in the field for over 20 years. At the Hospital, he works in the capacity of a managing director.
