At a time when conversations around climate change and conscious living are becoming increasingly urgent, Earth Calling stands out as a brand that has turned sustainability into a lifestyle and a movement. Co-founded by Natasha Paranjape, Rewati Limaye and Soumitra Hirlekar, Earth Calling is redefining the way we think about gifting — making it not just thoughtful, but also planet-friendly. With an inspiring mission to blend creativity, affordability, and responsibility, the brand offers curated eco-conscious gifts and hampers that bring joy while leaving behind a lighter footprint. In this conversation with Sanjay Jadhav, Editor, Puneinsight, Natasha shares the story behind Earth Calling, the growing relevance of sustainable gifting, and how small, everyday choices can lead to big changes for the planet.
What sparked the idea of starting Earth Calling, and how did the journey begin?
It began as a lifestyle — making small habit changes in our own lives. We thought the word needs to spread — conversations need to begin, and families, corporates, and people need to start becoming more aware. What’s the most personal and amazing way of bringing a smile across any culture, not just Indian? Gifting. That’s how we thought of merging the two. Earth Calling began as a passion project for the three of us, and it still remains a high passion project today. Our mission has always been to show that gifting can be both meaningful and sustainable.
Sustainable gifting is a relatively new concept in India. How do you define it, and why do you feel it’s the need of the hour?
We define sustainable gifting as celebrating while being mindful of our environmental impact. It means choosing gifts made from natural, compostable, reusable, or recyclable materials, designed to delight without harming the Earth. With climate change and waste generation at alarming levels, it’s no longer just a choice but a responsibility. We believe gifting can set powerful examples for families, communities, and businesses, showing that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Could you tell us more about the range of eco-friendly products and gifting options Earth Calling offers? Which categories are the most popular with your customers?
Our range includes thoughtfully curated eco-friendly hampers, luxury sustainable Diwali boxes, corporate gifting solutions, and quirky lifestyle products. From reusable kitchenware, stationery, and wellness products to elegant keepsake boxes — each piece tells a story of care for the planet. Among our customers, eco-luxury Diwali hampers, corporate gifting sets, and creative lifestyle boxes are the most popular because they beautifully blend sustainability with uniqueness.
How does Earth Calling ensure that sustainability is maintained across the entire process — from sourcing to packaging?
Sustainability is at the heart of every decision we make. We are proud to source from across India — and only from India — ensuring that we support local artisans, NGOs, and eco-conscious vendors. Every box is made of all eco-friendly, compostable, biodegradable, or recyclable material. Even our packaging avoids plastic and embraces alternatives like seed paper tags, jute strings, and reusable cloth bags. By staying mindful at each step, we ensure the gifting journey is as eco-conscious as the gift itself.
Many people feel that going eco-friendly can be expensive. How do you make your products both sustainable and accessible?
We recognize that, and our aim from day one has been to make sustainable gifting more reasonable and easily accessible to all. That’s why our price points are among the best in the market.
We create hampers starting from Rs.100 to luxury hampers up to Rs.5000. Our USP is to work around the client’s given budget and provide the best-valued curation for it. ✨
By sourcing directly from artisans and using innovative materials, we balance cost without compromising quality, making our products both sustainable and affordable.

Personalization is a key aspect of gifting. Does Earth Calling also offer customized eco-friendly gifts, and how do you balance creativity with sustainability?
Yes, absolutely. Personalization adds soul to gifting. We offer embossing of company logos or personalized messages on select products like bamboo diaries, glass bottles, or wellness kits. Whether it’s curating themes for a wedding hamper or tailoring wellness boxes for employees, we ensure each gift reflects the giver’s intent. Our creative team constantly experiments with designs, but always within the boundaries of sustainability, so the final product remains eco-friendly and truly unique.
Corporate gifting is a big segment in India. Are you seeing growing interest from businesses that want to align with sustainability?
Definitely. We are seeing a significant shift, especially in the last two years. Many corporates now want their gifts to reflect their values — eco-friendly, socially responsible, and impactful. We also conduct eco-drives within corporates, where we encourage them to change just one or two products to eco-friendly alternatives — for example, conference books, diaries, or plastic bottles replaced with glass or wooden bottles. Over time, this leads to a huge shift in regular habits and helps companies earn credits on their Go Green initiatives while cutting carbon footprints.
What kind of segments does Earth Calling cater to, and are there any new segments you’re exploring?
Earth Calling caters to a wide range of segments — corporates, events, weddings, personal celebrations, annual functions, conferences, automotive, hospitality, and food chains. A new and very exciting segment for us is schools. We have partnered with mindful schools like Bliss International School to offer a unique range of eco-friendly return gifts for children. The feedback from parents has been overwhelmingly positive, as the products inspire eco-conscious habits early on.

Could you share a story or feedback from a customer that reinforced your mission at Earth Calling?
One of our most heartwarming experiences was with a corporate client who gifted our eco-friendly hampers during Diwali. Later, they shared how employees reused the boxes at home — as stationery holders, jewelry organizers, and even kitchen storage. We also received amazing feedback from Jaguar Land Rover’s design team, who told us how each unique product not only inspired their creativity but also sparked conversations. Many of the products, like bamboo Bluetooth speakers and jute pouches, are still being used daily by their families. For us, this reinforced the fact that our gifts have a long-lasting impact beyond just the moment of gifting.
Looking ahead, how do you envision the role of Earth Calling in promoting sustainable living over the next five years?
We envision Earth Calling as a catalyst for change. In the next five years, we aim to expand our reach across India and globally, introduce more innovative eco-products, and collaborate with like-minded brands. Our dream is to make sustainable gifting the norm, not the exception. We want every gift exchanged to carry a powerful message: Care for people, care for the planet.
In case anyone needs to connect with you, how should they?
We’d love to connect with anyone who shares our passion for sustainability.
Let us create gifts that resonate with your values and wow your audience!
Let’s make gifting sustainable, meaningful, and unforgettable.
