Pune: Vincent Pinto’s team comprising Nirupam Dhar, Sunil Dalal and Pramod Kaliabraved the challenging conditions as the sun and rain played hide and seek and garnered 82 points to win the Independence Day Cup golf tournament at the Poona Club golf course here on Tuesday.
Finishing Runner’s up was the team comprising Mieko Kobayashi, Shailesh Kudale and Sachin Menon who tallied 78 points.
The tournament was held in Greensome Stableford format with the players getting no preferred lie.
Mihir Kadam and Pratyush Dalal posted 39 points to win the Overall Best Pair team event. The pair of Rajiv Pusalkar and Raj Datta also posted the score of 39 but had to settle with the runner-up trophy owing to their higher handicap. The winning pair had a combined handicap of 9, while that of Pusalkar and datta was 11.
Pusalkar also won a skills prize—the nearest to the pin prize on hole number 2. His ball landed 3 feet 2 inches from the flag post.
