Marvel clinches the Bridgestone GPL2 title

Bridgestone Golf Premier League

Pune: Nawu Marvel team owner Girish Awachat and his teammates Rahul Wanchoo, Khushal Shinagare and Pankaj Asawa played to perfection as needed to win the final against Air Strikers in the modified Ryder Cup format,  which paid rich dividends as Nawu Marvel won the second season of the Bridgestone Golf Premier League – Belmondo with a 46-26 win over Air Strikers at the par-54 Lodha Belmondo Golf course near here.

Nawu Marvel truly deserved the title as it was the only unbeaten team throughout the league stage, dishing out consistent and overwhelming performances.

The month-long 6-team premier league was played at three courses—Lodha Belmondo, the Blueridge course in Hinjawadi and the Aces course in Karjat. The league was played at three courses to give variety and also a level of difficulty to the tournament.

The Premier League which was supported by top brands like Ecco and Meshworkz was played over the weekends in which 72 amateur golfers were divided into 6 teams—Bindas Boys, Eagle Strikers, Nawu Marvel, Regal Warriors, Amigos and Air Strikers.

The grand finale was played on a modified Ryder Cup format, which was conceptualised by Ace golfing’s Mr. Aditya Malpani.
