Shibu hat-trick takes CMS Falcons into final

Pune: Shibu Sunny scored a 10-minute hat-trick in the second half on Sunday to power CMS Falcons ‘A’ past Khadki Youngsters 5-2 into the final of the Freedom Cup 2022 football tournament at Bavdhan.

Khadki Youngsters had taken a two-goal lead in the first half but lost the influential Riyan Yadgiri to a red card early in the second half.

CMS Falcons took full advantage of their numerical superiority to make a comeback and set up a title clash with Razorbacks.

Razorbacks were stretched to the end by Fatima XI but scored two late goals to ensure their presence in the final.

40+ Age Category (Semifinals): Pacific XI 1 (Upendra 38′) beat Freedom 40+; Akatsuki 3 (Mateen S 13′, 30′, Rajeev R 43′) beat Pune Masters 0.

Open Category (Semifinals): CMS Falcons A 5 (Shibu Sunny 60′, 68′, 70′, Rohil Bhokare 55′, Ashley D90+1′) beat Khadki Youngsters 2 (Walter Solomon 34′, Cladio D 44′); Razorbacks 2 (Manas Jagtap 79′, Karan Pawar 86′) beat Fatima XI 0.
