PYC Hindu Gymkhana has become the first club in the city to restart their cricket coaching activity on the online platform.

“PYC Hindu Gymkhana have been pioneers in the development of modern coaching techniques and advanced coaching structures, we are again in the need of developing and implementing a new robust and extremely economic friendly and viable coaching structure as we have the largest and most successful cricket coaching facility as regards to clubs in the city and probably even the state,” said Anand Paranjape Hon Secretary of the PYC Hindu Gymkhana.

“This concept was the need of the hour, as aspiring players who were confined to their homes, were given an opportunity to learn the game from a very basic level to an advanced level, Vinayak Dravid, Cricket Secretary of  PYC Hindu Gymkhana.

The club’s team of coaches who are former Ranji Trophy players run the online coaching which include Charudatta Kulkarni (Fast bowling and fitness), Indrajeet Kanetkar (Spin bowling and fielding), Parag Shahane (wicket keeping) Niranjan Godbole, the head coach (batting) and Ranjit Pande, the director of cricket, concept and course design, syllabus and overall coaching.

Speaking on online coaching, Ranjit Pande explained that “Part of the activity was specially designed for a summer camp, which was essentially for beginners or novices who got the benefit of getting coached by a team of highly experienced and skilled coaches. Sessions for summer camp were conducted successfully online via video conferencing over the internet.”

“The second phase of the concept was to expand this methodology for an excellence camp for a batch of players who are in need of a specialized structure for the upcoming season, a tailor-made programme for each individual player, with regards to their skill sets and requirements.”

“This phase along with enhancing skills, would also include focus on the mental and physical aspects via sports psychology, nutrition and player specific fitness programmes. The club’s new concept and the resultant online capabilities will bring a lot of utility to the annual cricket structure as well as regards to inclement weather too, so days which usually were rained off and had very little or no activity for a majority of the monsoon season will be eradicated.”
