Pune’s Vaishnavi Adkar is all set to participate in the Junior French Open 2020 (Roland Garros) wild card tournament scheduled to be held in Paris from October 2.

Adkar who started playing tennis at the age of 6 has had a steady growth graph doing well at the local, state and national level. Her entry to the French Open 2020 (Roland Garros) wild card tournament in Paris as a result of her winning the Roland Garros Junior Wild Card Series 2020 (Under 18-category)  in Delhi.

A win at the Junior French Open 2020 (Roland Garros) wild card tournament would ensure a wildcard in the French Open Junior Main Draw.

In a year marred by the deadly pandemic, the resumption of tennis activities and the conduct of the French Open has come as big relief for the 16-year-old player who is a student of Abhinava Vidyalaya English Medium High School and a tennis student of Pune’s young and performing coach Kedar Shah at his Bounce Tennis Academy.

So it is like a dream come true for me. Along with tennis, I’ve been focusing a lot on fitness lately because it is very important for me to stay in the best shape possible, to be able to do good at the international level.”\
