Finally, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has scrapped the road cleaning project worth Rs464 over alleged financial connections. The project included cleaning of the roads, market places with the help of a machine.
Pimpri-Chinchwad mayor Mai Dhore directed the standing committee members as not to bring this subject before the floor henceforth. There were murmurs in the civic body corridors that several people including ruling party BJP members, NCP and Congress members and higher officials have financials connections.
The subject came to the floor first time on July 29, but it was adjourned owing to disagreement among the members.
There were allegations and counter-allegations between BJP and NCP over the cleanliness in the city. Both alleged that during their period the cleanliness in the city were below the norms.
