PMC provides a rebate on property tax for installing the Rain Water harvesting system and/or solar water heating system. Provided below are the steps to secure a discount on property tax in Pune.

Step 1:  Who is eligible for a rebate?

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is giving a 5 percent tax rebate for properties with an operable rainwater harvesting system and/or solar water heating system. Housing societies or homes with either of the two installations are eligible to get the discount and will be considered for the same.

Step 2: What are the necessary documents?

Residents are required to provide a no-dues certificate for the property. This certificate is accessible online on the property tax department’s official website.

Step 3: Submit the bills

Residents of housing societies need to provide bills showing the purchase of material for the Rainwater Harvesting System and/or solar water heating system. These systems and the certificate must be authorized by an authorized consultant.

Step 4: Rules for housing society

If any housing society is applying for the rebate, it should be providing details of each flat owner residing in the society with the property number. The society will need to provide documents showing the same.

Step 5: Inspection

After submitting the required documents, PMC officials will conduct a site inspection. If the systems are operational then the rebate will be granted.

PMC is providing these rebates or discounts to boost rainwater harvesting, solar systems, and garbage processing within the premises. The only condition is that the system should be active and in a working condition. Those having these facilities and fulfilling the criteria should apply to PMC in the stipulated format, advises Vilas Kanade, PMC, the head of the property tax department.
