NKBA’s Sukant Kadam clinches Gold, Silver at Spanish Para-Badminton International

Pune: Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy’s (NKBA) Sukant Kadam put on a good show as he clinched a Gold (MS SL4) and a Silver Medal (MD SL3-SL4) at the Spanish Para-Badminton International II 2022 which took place at Vitoria, Spain.

In the MS-SL4 finals, Sukant defeated Germany’s Marcel Adam 21-13, 21-18 to clinch the title. In the semi-final encounter, Sukant defeated Portugal’s Diogo Daniel  21-14, 21-17.

Earlier in the quarterfinal encounter, Sukant defeated fellow Indian Deep Ranjan Bisoyee Bisoyee 21-11, 21-11. The first round witnessed Sukant getting past France player Guillaume Gailly 21-11, 21-11.

 In the MD- SL3- SL4 action the pair of Sukant Kadam and Kumar Nitesh went down to the Indian pair of Pramod Bhagat and Majon Sarkar 21-19, 11-21, 21-11 as they settled for the silver medal.

Speaking after winning two medals, Sukant said “This has been a great experience for me. This gives me more inspiration to continue giving my best in the upcoming tournaments. I would like to thank everyone at NKBA for their continuous support.

Speaking about Sukant’s performance Nikhil Kanetkar said “This is a good victory for Sukant. As he narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Tokyo Para Olympics, I hope that this will motivate him to keep doing better & better in the coming days as we are targeting the 2024 Para Olympics at Paris for him.”
