NKBA’s Konark Inchekar Shines Again: Clinches Dual Gold Victory at ICSE National Badminton Championship

Pune: In a stellar display of badminton prowess, Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy’s (NKBA) Konark Inchekar, the ICSE National Badminton Champion, secured two gold medals, reaffirming his excellence on the national stage. The youngster from Vidya Valley School demonstrated exceptional skill in both individual and team events, triumphing for Maharashtra and Goa.

At the recent CISCE National Badminton Meet held at Vishwa Vidyapeeth School, Bangalore from September 30 to October 2, Konark exhibited unmatched talent, defending his titles in the Boys U17 Individual and Team Championships. The competition was fierce, but Konark’s determination and skill prevailed, marking an impressive victory.

In the team event, Konark played a pivotal role, propelling the Maharashtra and Goa team to the top of the podium in the U17 boys category. Overcoming challenging opponents, the team emerged victorious after a grueling series of matches against esteemed teams like North India, Tamil Nadu, and Orissa. The doubles event against Tamil Nadu was a highlight, showcasing Konark’s tenacity alongside partner Parth Deore in a thrilling contest.

Advancing to the semis, the Maharashtra and Goa team faced tough competition from Karnataka but emerged triumphant with Konark’s exceptional performance. In the finals against West Bengal, Team Maharashtra exhibited remarkable dominance, clinching the coveted team championship for the second consecutive year.

In the U17 boys individual event, Konark, seeded at the top based on his national ranking, showcased his mettle once again. After a challenging semifinal against a formidable opponent from Andhra Pradesh, Konark demonstrated resilience and skill, ultimately securing victory in a hard-fought battle.

The finals witnessed an enthralling clash between Konark and his teammate Parth Deore, both hailing from Maharashtra. The match, lasting an intense 50 minutes, kept the audience on the edge of their seats. In a nail-biting finish, Konark emerged triumphant over Parth, securing his second gold medal and further solidifying his status as a badminton prodigy.

Konark’s exceptional performance has earned him the honor of representing the All-India ICSE board in the SGFI Nationals, scheduled for November. His remarkable journey continues to inspire aspiring badminton enthusiasts nationwide.
