NKBA players dominate at Senior District Badminton Championship; clinch four titles

Pune: It proved to be the perfect four for players of Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) as they won all four finals that they played in at the PDMBA Senior District Badminton Championship 2022 which concluded at Modern PDMBA Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Men’s Singles final witnessed top seed Varun Kapur defeating second seed Arya Bhivpathaki 21-16, 21-9 to walk home with the title.

In the Women’s Singles final, second seed Rhucha Sawant toiled hard as she defeated top seed Neha Pandit with the score reading 22-20, 20-22, 21-14.

In the Men’s Doubles final, the pair of Rishabh Deshpande and Varun Kapur defeated Soham Patil and Tejas Deo 19-21, 21-12, 21-17 to emerge victorious.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Doubles final, Rhucha Sawant and Manali Parulekar defeated Aditi Kale and Yogita Salve 21-18, 21-6 as NKBA finished with a fabulous performance. Speaking about the performance Nikhil Kanetkar said “Varun, Rhucha, Rishabh and Manali have done very well to win the Pune District titles. Also, a lot of our other junior players did well and it is a good sign for the future. Players are playing after almost 2 years and it’s great to see everyone back in action.”
