Khushal Shinagare’s 64 gives Nawu Marvel 3rd win in as many matches

Pune: Khushal Shinagare played a modest round of 10-over par 64  helping his team Nawu Marvel to its third win from as many matches as they took a clear 2-point lead over  Air Strikers after the third weekend in the second edition of the month-long 6-team Bridgestone Golf Premier League – Belmondo, at the par-54 Lodha Belmondo Golf course off the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The 6-team premier league is being played at three courses—Lodha Belmondo, the Blueridge course in Hinjawadi and Aces course in Karjat.

Nawu Marvel, which was up against Amigos in the second round, sailed through 636-664, even though Amigos had two best scorers of the match on their side in AdityaPande(62), Amit Yadav(63). The Match ended 596-578, but strokes adjustment as per the Auction rules, which was uniquely held not on the basis of money, but strokes, gave Nawu the decisive 636-664 win.

Nawu was ranked No. 1 with 6 points followed by Eagle Strikers(5), zAir Strikers (4)and Bindas Boys (3), Amigos, who are ranked5th and Regal Warriors 6th are yet to open their account.

“We are playing at three golf courses to give variety and also a level of difficulty to the tournament,” said.

The second round of matches saw extremely close and intense contests in all the match-ups.

Most notable was the match between Eagle Strikers and Bindas Boys, which ended up in a tie, thanks to two long birdie putts by Augustine and Jagdish Belwal of the Bindas Boys on the 18th hole.it is a very rare scenario in a team game of golf being played in this format to end in a tie. Both teams were awarded 1 point each on the points table.

The Premier League, supported by top brands like Ecco and Meshworkz, is being played over the weekends in which 72 amateur golfers are divided into 6 teams—Bindas Boys, Eagle Strikers, Nawu Marvel, Regal Warriors, Amigos and Air Strikers are taking part. The Bridgestone Golf Premier League will see the final being held on Dec12, wherein the top two teams qualify for the final, which will be played on a modified Ryder Cup format, which was conceptualised by Ace golfing’s Mr. Aditya Malpani.
