Pune University To Conduct Exams for Final Year Students in June

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The university had delayed exams. In a bid to allow final-year students some relief, Savitribai Phule Pune University plans to conduct a final year examination online in the month of June. SPPU Vice-Chancellor Nitin Karmalkar further announced that the university is likely to release results immediately by August. 

After the online first-semester exams end, registration forms for final year exams will likely be made available by May 10, 2021. Students can apply for these exams online until May 31, 2021. If the pre-examination rituals like filling forms and generating hall tickets are completed on time, the exams will begin on June 15, 2021. They will get over by the end of June. The results for all subjects will be released by August 15, 2021. The students will be provided with their mark sheets and other relevant documents immediately after the exams allowing them to apply for different courses, nationally or internationally.  

The decision followed a meeting conducted by the higher education minister, Uday Samant, regarding final year examinations and education. Vice-Chancellors of 13 non-agricultural universities were present in the forum. To ensure that diploma, degree, postgraduate students could apply to various courses after their final year; the decision to conduct online examinations was made. While final year students and their subjects will be prioritised for the same, exams for other students might be held soon after. 

The students appearing for the exams can either type their answers on their devices, use an A4 size sheet, scan the answer sheet, and upload them. 

There will be four questions of five marks each in the question paper that students must answer. Along with this, 50 marks online multiple-choice test will be conducted. Thirty marks will be allocated to internal exams, practicals and submissions, adding up to 100 marks per subject. Their professors and faculty will give the students proper instructions regarding the process of answering and submitting their responses to the test. 

Many colleges had commenced their second-semester lessons by January, and the university administrators are confident that they will be able to complete the syllabus in time for the examinations. Around 6 lakh students are expected to appear for final year examinations this year.  The students seem to agree with the faculty’s decision of conducting the exams as soon as possible.
