Ducati Launches the All-New 2026 Monster in India

Ducati has announced the launch of the all-new 2026 Monster in India, marking the arrival of the fifth generation of one of the most recognisable motorcycles in the world. First introduced at the Cologne Motor Show in 1992, the Monster helped define the modern naked sports-bike segment with its simple philosophy: “everything you need, nothing more.”

For 2026, Ducati has completely reworked the Monster while retaining the character that has defined the nameplate for more than three decades. The new motorcycle combines a more compact and muscular design with a new-generation Ducati V2 engine, a lightweight chassis, premium cycle parts and an advanced electronic package.

The new Monster also arrives in India with fresh international recognition. It has been awarded the Red Dot Design Award – Product Design 2026, recognising its contemporary interpretation of the iconic Monster design while retaining its distinctive identity.

A new chapter for the Monster

The fifth-generation Monster is based around Ducati’s new V2 engine and has been developed to be lighter, more accessible and easier to live with on a daily basis. Its design takes inspiration from the original Monster, while bringing a modern interpretation to key elements such as the characteristic bison-back fuel tank and the full-LED headlamp.

The redesigned seat is narrower and sits at 815 mm, making it easier for riders to reach the ground. The side-panel design also helps direct hot air from the radiator outwards, improving thermal comfort.

New Ducati V2 engine

At the heart of the new Monster is Ducati’s 890 cc V2 twin-cylinder engine featuring Intake Variable Timing (IVT). The engine produces 111 CV (110.7 HP) at 9,000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of maximum torque at 7,250 rpm. More than 80% of peak torque is available between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm, supporting strong yet manageable performance across a wide range of riding conditions.

The new Ducati V2 is also 5.9 kg lighter than the previous Testastretta Evoluzione engine. Ducati claims a valve-clearance inspection interval of 45,000 km, providing a significant advantage in terms of scheduled maintenance.

Lightweight and sporty chassis

The Monster uses the V2 engine as a stressed member of a monocoque chassis. It features a double-sided swingarm inspired by the Ducati Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm used on the Panigale V4, along with a rear subframe combining technopolymer and trellis elements.

With a wet weight of 175 kg without fuel, the new Monster is 4 kg lighter than the previous model. Suspension duties are handled by a 43 mm Showa upside-down fork and a Showa monoshock with preload adjustment.

Braking performance comes from dual 320 mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers and a radial PR18/21 master cylinder. The motorcycle is equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear sizes.

Advanced electronics and rider-focused technology

The new Monster features a comprehensive electronic package supported by a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU). The system includes cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0.

Four Riding Modes — Sport, Road, Urban and Wet — allow the motorcycle’s character to be adapted to different riding conditions. The functions are managed through new petal-shaped joystick controls and a 5-inch full-TFT dashboard with an 800 x 400 resolution. The display supports Ducati Multimedia System, turn-by-turn navigation and cruise-control readiness.

Ducati Protect: Periodic Maintenance Contract

Ducati is also offering the new Monster with Ducati Protect periodic maintenance contracts. Ducati Protect (+) is priced at INR 30,999 and covers two years or 15,000 km, while Ducati Protect (Pro) costs INR 54,999 and extends coverage to four years or 30,000 km. Both packages cover genuine Ducati parts and labour by Ducati-certified technicians. Consumables such as brake pads, clutch plates and tyres are excluded.

Monster and Monster+ variants for India

The 2026 Ducati Monster is available in India in two versions: Monster and Monster+. The Monster+ additionally gets a headlight cowl and passenger seat cover.

Accessories and customisation

Ducati Performance offers a range of accessories for customers looking to personalise the Monster, including carbon-fibre components, billet-aluminium parts and an Alcantara sports seat. Homologated silencers with titanium liners and carbon end caps, developed in collaboration with Termignoni, are also available.

The all-new 2026 Ducati Monster is available in India from 10 August 2026 through Ducati dealerships across the country.
