New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has passed a strong order in favour of Lenskart Solutions Limited against a Pune-based eyewear retailer “Lenscut”, which was found to be running a retail store bearing deceptively similar branding and logos of Lenskart.

The Court, presided over by Hon’ble Justice Tejas Karia, noted that:

  • Lenskart discovered in August 2025 that Lenscut had opened a store right next to its own outlet in Pimple Saudagar, Pune, using the name “Lenscut” and logos almost identical to “Lenskart.”
  • The store signage, staff uniforms, bills/invoices, and shop interior design resembled Lenskart’s registered trademarks, creating confusion among customers.
  • Lenskart produced evidence, including photographs and invoice copies, to show how Lenscut was misleading customers into believing their business was connected to Lenskart.

Recognising the urgency of the matter, the Court has:

  1. Granted an immediate ex-parte injunction restraining Lenscut from using the mark “Lenscut” or any deceptively similar name/logo to Lenskart.
  2. Appointed a Local Commissioner (a court-appointed officer) to conduct raids at the Lenscut premises in Pune, seize infringing products, marketing material, and examine accounts.
  3. Directed the Pune police to assist the Commissioner in carrying out the seizure smoothly on 14th August 2025.
  4. Ordered that all seized counterfeit/marked goods be listed and valued, with the material kept under court supervision.

The Court observed that Lenskart is the first and rightful user of the brand and has invested heavily since 2008 in building its goodwill across India and abroad. By copying Lenskart’s distinctive name and brand identity, Lenscut was attempting to mislead shoppers and unlawfully profit from Lenskart’s reputation.

The next hearing is scheduled for November 24, 2025.
