Covid-19: Pune records highest single-day toll

In what could be a mixture of good and bad news, Pune on Wednesday saw the highest number of people (2,543) being discharged while 66 deaths were reported which is the highest single-day toll in Pune till date.

The death toll now rises to 1858 while total positive cases are 78013.
Concerning the state, Maharashtra, crossed the 4-lakh mark. With 9211 new cases, the total numbers stand at 4,00,651. With 298 deaths, the death count is 14,463.
Meanwhile Mumbai recorded 1109 cases and 60 deaths, taking the total to 1,11,991 cases with 6247 deaths.

Meanwhile guidelines for Unlock 3 were announced by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for opening up of more activities in areas outside the Containment Zones.
In Unlock 3, which will come into effect from August 1, the process of phased re-opening of activities has been extended further. The new guidelines, issued are based on feedback received from States and UTs, and consultations held with related Central Ministries and Departments.

International air travel of passengers has been permitted in a limited manner under the Vande Bharat Further opening up will take place in a calibrated manner
Meanwhile schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed till August 31.

Also, restrictions on the movement of individuals during the night have been removed.
National Directives for COVID-19 management shall continue to be followed throughout the country, to ensure social distancing. Shops will need to maintain adequate physical distancing among customers. MHA will monitor the effective implementation of National Directives.
