Nitin Aggrawal

Pune: Aiming to divert the youngsters away from smartphone addiction, the Agarwal community has come together to  raise awareness about a fit and healthier life by providing sports academies and coaching programme to the deserving sportspersons from any community.

The newly appointed state convenor of Maharaja Agrasen Sports Academy, Mr. Nitin Agarwal, said that the aim was to promote such sports wherein the athletes could win medals at the national and international stage like in the Asian or Olympic Games.

“If our academies could come to help train future champions why not. We will be much happier,” said Gopal Sharan Garg, who appointed Nitin Agarwal, a young and diligent worker from Pune, as the state coordinator of the Maharaja Agrasen Sports Academy Maharashtra. Agarwal said the initiative was extension of “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fit India dream. “Through Maharaja Agrasen Sports Academy, we’ll do everything we can to make it a reality,” said Aggarwal He promised that the academy would make every effort to encourage local sports such as Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Atya-Patya, Carrom, rope jumping, archery, and badminton will be the prominent ones.

Facilities offered at the Academy

The academy will offer all facilities to talented youngsters at a village and  city, state, and ultimately  across the country. These gifted athletes could then compete at both national and international events . In Pune one such Academy is already functional in Wakad .

Focus on player training and facilities

Nitin Agarwal said, “We have so much of hidden talent, particularly in rural areas so the focus would be to recognise, tracking & giving them training and assistance. The focus of the Agrasen sports academy I would be to search for such talent, give them training & arrange facilities for the athletes to achieve success in sports. The Academy will be responsible for developing an action plan to identify these talents at the school level. Moreover, there will be efforts to endorse athletes for government jobs so that more students can turn towards sports,” he said.
